Jill Watkins, Principal with Watkins Design Works, is an NCIDQ-Certified interior designer with over 22 years of experience in commercial interior design, and over 18 years devoted to sustainable design.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, then lived in Cleveland, Ohio and Boston, Massachusetts for 13 years before moving back home to Charleston, West Virginia in 2008. During that time, she worked for several interior design, architecture and engineering firms on a variety of commercial interiors projects and nurtured a passion for sustainable design after attending a presentation by architect and futurist John Picard in 1997. She became one of the founding members of the Cleveland Green Building Coalition (now the Northeast Ohio Chapter of the USGBC), was Chapter President of the International Interior Design Association in Ohio/Kentucky for 4 years, and led the green effort for Gillette’s corporate headquarters renovation that has since become part of Procter & Gamble’s green building standards.
Currently, Jill is Chair of the WV Chapter of the USGBC and is a Professional Affiliate Member of the AIA WV Chapter. She is a graduate of the Charleston Area Alliance’s Leadership Kanawha Valley and GROW programs, and is involved with various other organizations around the area.
She loves hiking, backpacking, biking, and gardening.
